Brenda Lopez is the first Hispanic Woman in the Georgia General Assembly 

Brenda Lopez became the first Hispanic woman to hold a seat in the Georgia state Legislature, which she will occupy for the Democratic Party.

The candidate, who during her campaign pledged to be a voice for Hispanics and other minorities, was determined to fight for her constituents.

Lopez is a lawyer who came to the United States at age 5 and she will represent the 99th district in the Georgia House of Representatives.

In one of the counties she represents a significant percentage of the residents are Hispanic and it is estimated to have more than 300,000 residents.
